Board-Certified Dermatologist Advancing the Next Generation of Cosmetic Laser Treatments
Sergio Gaitan, MD, FAAD, is a board-certified dermatologist specializing in cosmetic dermatology and advanced laser and energy-based treatments in Miami, Florida.
He studied chemical engineering before going to medical school and becoming a dermatologist. Dr. Gaitan combines an engineering approach to technology with more than a decade of medical experience to develop individualized treatment protocols focused on skin health, natural results and advanced combination treatments.
He is the founder of Certified Cosmetics Dermatology & Laser, where cosmetic procedures are performed directly under the guidance of a board-certified dermatologist.

Dr. Sergio Gaitan has been recognized by Newsweek among America’s Best Cosmetic Dermatologists and Certified Cosmetics Dermatology & Laser was selected as one of the Top 10 Aesthetic Providers & Med Spas in Florida for 2026.
He also serves as a Key Opinion Leader for WONTECH USA and speaker for Cynosure Lutronic, working with advanced aesthetic technologies and contributing his clinical experience to the development and refinement of treatment protocols.
His work includes physician education, industry meetings and professional events focused on emerging laser and energy-based technologies.

Dr. Gaitan's work with advanced laser technology extends beyond his Miami practice.
As a Key Opinion Leader and industry speaker, he participates in physician education and professional events focused on emerging technologies, advanced treatment techniques and the evolving role of combination treatments in cosmetic dermatology.

Before becoming a physician, Dr. Sergio Gaitan studied chemical engineering at the University of Florida.
That background continues to influence how he evaluates cosmetic technology.
Rather than asking which device is newest or strongest, Dr. Gaitan evaluates the skin concern, the tissue depth being treated and the technology best suited for that specific goal.
This has led him to focus on the next generation of cosmetic treatment:
Combining technologies rather than asking one device to do everything.
For laser resurfacing, that may mean combining different wavelengths to address different skin depths.
For skin tightening, it may mean combining technologies that create different types of collagen stimulation.
And increasingly, his protocols combine advanced energy-based treatments with regenerative and skin-quality treatments to address not only how the skin looks, but how it functions and remodels after treatment.
“I don't start by asking which device is the strongest. I start by asking what I'm trying to change, at what depth, and which technology is best suited to do it.” — Sergio Gaitan, MD, FAAD
Dr. Gaitan believes the future of cosmetic dermatology is increasingly about combining complementary technologies and treatments rather than relying on a single device.
His protocols may combine different laser wavelengths, vascular technology, fractional resurfacing, microneedling, energy-based skin tightening and advanced skin-quality treatments according to the patient's individual needs.
The goal is not to perform the greatest number of procedures.
It is to understand what needs to change in the skin and select complementary tools that address different components of that problem.

Dr. Gaitan also incorporates concepts and technologies emerging from Korean aesthetic medicine, where combination treatments and skin-quality focused protocols have become an important part of modern cosmetic dermatology.
At Certified Cosmetics, this includes the integration of Rejuran with Dr. Gaitan's Laser Microneedling protocol.
Rather than using Rejuran as an injectable treatment, Dr. Gaitan incorporates it topically with microneedling as part of a broader treatment designed to support skin quality and rejuvenation.
This reflects a larger philosophy behind his work:
Laser technology creates the controlled stimulus. Complementary skin-quality treatments can become part of the overall regenerative strategy.
As new technologies and regenerative treatments enter the United States, Dr. Gaitan continues to evaluate how they may complement advanced laser and energy-based procedures rather than simply using them as standalone treatments.

At Certified Cosmetics, Dr. Gaitan's work focuses heavily on individualized combination treatments.
Multi-depth approaches using specialized laser technologies for wrinkles, texture, acne scars, collagen remodeling and skin quality.
Individualized combinations designed around pigmentation, vascular components, inflammation and skin type.
Advanced vascular laser treatments for facial redness, visible vessels and vascular components of skin conditions.
Combination approaches designed to stimulate collagen and improve skin quality using complementary technologies selected according to the patient's anatomy and goals.

Dr. Gaitan's academic work has also included publications in peer-reviewed medical literature, including work related to laser resurfacing and laser and light techniques in facial aesthetics.
Born and raised in Miami, Dr. Gaitan returned home after completing his medical training and has practiced dermatology in South Florida since completing residency.
In 2023, he founded Certified Cosmetics Dermatology & Laser to create a different model of cosmetic dermatology: personalized medical care, direct access to a board-certified dermatologist led care, and advanced technologies selected for clinical purpose rather than trends.
Today, his work brings together engineering, dermatology, advanced laser technology, Korean aesthetic innovation and combination treatment protocols to create individualized approaches to skin rejuvenation.

Cosmetic treatments are medical treatments.
Dr. Gaitan believes treatment should begin by understanding the patient's skin, concerns and goals before selecting a laser, device or regenerative treatment.
